Kairat Osmonaliev, the former ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Azerbaijan and Georgia, emphasized the necessity of deepening cooperation and integration among Turkic states to ensure regional security at an international conference in Azerbaijan's Shusha. He suggested the establishment of a regional security system similar to NATO or the CSTO, the International Center for Media and Research reports.
The Organization of Turkic States (OTS) comprises five member states: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan, with Hungary and Turkmenistan holding observer status. Osmonaliev expressed confidence in the potential of the Turkic world, citing its significant resources, economic strength, and human capital, asserting that these factors position the region to become an influential player in global peace and security.
"Today we can confidently say that the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) emerged as a full-fledged regional international organisation and became a recognisable factor in world politics. The institutional structure of our organisation was finally formed", he added.
