"No country can advance without real reforms," she affirmed.
Mirziyoyeva elucidated that Uzbekistan's pursuit of WTO membership transcends mere accession aspirations; rather, it is entrenched in a broader agenda aimed at fortifying the nation's economy and enhancing the well-being of its populace.
"The laborious but very important reforms... are primarily aimed at stabilizing our economy and improving the lives of our people," she asserted.
Acknowledging Uzbekistan's potential as a reservoir of talent and innovation, Mirziyoyeva extolled the nation's capacity to proffer novel ideas, unique experiences, and services to the global arena. With the Central Asian nation boasting the fastest-growing population in the region, she emphasized Uzbekistan's readiness to make substantial contributions on the international stage.
A high-level conference convened on June 5, buoyed by the support of global institutions including the World Trade Organization (WTO), the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), to deliberate on Uzbekistan's ongoing endeavors towards WTO accession.
Central to Uzbekistan's roadmap towards WTO accession is a commitment to holistic reform. Mirziyoyeva delineated Uzbekistan's unwavering dedication to fostering economic development, bolstering social protection, advancing healthcare and education, and upholding the rule of law.
"We will never deviate from this path; this is the destination of our country's development," she affirmed resolutely.
Mirziyoyeva also highlighted the role of quality investments and integration into global value chains in realizing Uzbekistan's developmental aspirations. She expressed gratitude for the steadfast support and trust extended by the leadership of the WTO, deeming it "highly appreciated."
Amidst the conference proceedings, Mirziyoyeva engaged in fruitful deliberations with WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The dialogue formed a crucial component of broader discussions centered on "Economic Reforms in Uzbekistan and the Process of Membership in the World Trade Organization."
