"We will never deviate from this path," - Saida Mirziyoyeva on WTO accession

"We will never deviate from this path," - Saida Mirziyoyeva on WTO accession

A high-level conference on June 5, supported by the World Trade Organization (WTO), the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) focused on Uzbekistan's ongoing efforts to join the WTO. Saida Mirziyoyeva, assistant to the President of Uzbekistan, emphasized the country's dedication to economic reforms and international integration.

    WTO Accession and Economic Reforms

Saida Mirziyoyeva highlighted Uzbekistan's commitment to joining the WTO, stating,

"We are determined to continue reforms aimed at supporting economic development, improving social protection, healthcare, and education, as well as ensuring the rule of law. We will never deviate from this path; this is the destination of our country's development."

Mirziyoyeva pointed out the importance of quality investments and participation in global value chains as key components for achieving these goals. She acknowledged the major support and trust from the WTO leadership, describing it as "highly appreciated."

    Engagement with WTO Leadership

During the conference, Mirziyoyeva engaged in discussions with WTO Director General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The meeting was part of the broader dialogue on "Economic Reforms in Uzbekistan and the Process of Membership in the World Trade Organization."

    Progress Towards WTO Membership

Uzbekistan has been making strides towards WTO accession, demonstrating its commitment through substantial reforms and active participation in international forums.

The conference served as a platform to showcase these efforts and the progress made in aligning national policies with global trade standards. As Saida Mirziyoyeva stated,

"Such goals can only be achieved through quality investments and global value chains."
