Uzbekistan's imports reached $12.3bn in 4M24, up 3.9% y/y, the State Statistics Agency reports. Over the past two years, imports have consistently grown, with a 13.44% increase from 2022 to 2023 and a 6.04% growth from 2023 to 2024, resulting in a total rise of 20.37% from 2022 to 2024.
Imports from China and Russia grew with imports from China totaling $3.32bn, up $590mn more than in 2023. Russian imports to Uzbekistan grew by $66mn reaching $2.82bn. India and the United States also saw growth in import volume to Uzbekistan in 4M24. Indian imports to the country amounted to $254.5mn, up from $164.5mn in 2023, and imports from the United States totaled $187.9mn, up from 2023's $152.6mn.
Conversely, imports from Kazakhstan, South Korea, Turkey, Germany, Turkmenistan and Lithuania all faced decline. With imports from Kazakhstan are down by more than $150mn, dropping to $841.1mn from $1.08bn. South Korean imports dropped by $106mn to $681.5mn, from 2023's $787.7mn. Uzbekistan's imports from Turkey dipped slightly from $598.2mn in 2023 to $542.3mn in 2024. German imports to the Central Asian state decreased by $443mn, reaching $318.7mn. Imports from Turkmenistan also followed this downward trend with $257.8mn in 4M24, slightly down from 2023's $258.5mn. Lithuanian imports to Uzbekistan in 4M24 reached $194.2mn, compared to 2023's $196.5mn.
