Uzbekistan became the third largest foreign investor in Kazakhstan, overtaking China in the number of registered companies, Data Hub reports. As of May 1, there are 4,595 Uzbek companies registered in Kazakhstan. This is an increase of 706 companies since the beginning of the year. In contrast, Chinese companies, which previously held the third position, increased their presence by only 204 enterprises.
Most domestic companies in Kazakhstan are small enterprises, with only two exceptions. Approximately one-third of these companies are engaged in trade.
Operating companies in Uzbekistan account for 79% of registered enterprises, a figure higher than the average for the top ten partner countries. In comparison, China's operational figure stands at 64%. Turkey ranks second, and Russia holds the first position in terms of foreign investment in Kazakhstan.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Azerbaijan entered the top 10 countries with registered and operating companies in Kazakhstan. As of April 1 this year, 1,434 companies with Azerbaijani capital were registered in Kazakhstan, alongside 217 companies with joint ownership, Kazakhstan's Bureau of National Statistics reports.
