President Shavkat Mirziyoev of Uzbekistan welcomed Tatiana Molcean, the Deputy Secretary General of the UN and Executive Secretary of the European Economic Commission, during the Tashkent International Investment Forum, on May 2, presidential press service reported.
Molcean conveyed warm regards and well wishes from UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to President Mirziyoev at the onset of their meeting.
The discussions primarily revolved around the implementation of regional and national projects, as well as initiatives introduced by President Mirziyoev at the inaugural summit of the UN Special Program for Central Asian Economies (SPEKA) held in Baku last November.
President Mirziyoev acknowledged the significant role of the commission in advancing the objectives of sustainable development until 2030, particularly in areas such as transportation, innovation, environmental conservation, gender equality, and Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The urgent need for the adoption of the SPEKA development concept for the period up to 2030, the establishment of the program's Target Fund, and the preparation of essential conceptual documents were underscored during the meeting.
