President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with Qais bin Mohammed al-Yusuf, the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Investment Promotion of the Sultanate of Oman. Minister al-Yusuf visited Uzbekistan to partake in the third Tashkent International Investment Forum, presidential press service reported.
At the onset of the meeting, Minister al-Yusuf conveyed warm regards from Sultan of Oman Haysam bin Tariq Al Said to President Mirziyoyev.
The discussions primarily centered around the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly in trade, economics, and investment sectors. Both parties acknowledged the vast potential for implementing various projects spanning energy, transport, healthcare, tourism, geology, food, textiles, and chemistry. They also highlighted the role of the Uzbekistan-Oman Investment Company in facilitating such ventures.
Agreements were reached to convene a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and organize a joint business forum in the near future to further solidify bilateral ties and explore avenues for collaboration.
Additionally, discussions delved into the construction of the Trans-Afghan railway and the promotion of the "Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman" transport corridor, underscoring the importance of enhancing connectivity and regional cooperation.
