President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan welcomed a delegation headed by Odile Reno-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), on May 1, ahead of the second meeting of the Tashkent International Investment Forum and the Council of Foreign Investors, presidential press service informed.
A new partnership strategy between Uzbekistan and the EBRD has been adopted to expand cooperation, particularly in areas such as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), women's entrepreneurship, alternative energy, and digital technologies.
The EBRD has been actively involved in supporting state-owned enterprise privatization efforts and facilitating major deals in the banking and finance sectors. Additionally, the bank has contributed to improving regulatory frameworks in areas such as green energy, transport infrastructure, and environmental conservation.
President Mirziyoyev underscored the importance of expediting the preparation and implementation of new projects in crucial sectors like water supply, energy, road infrastructure, and the development of eco-friendly urban areas.
