The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Galuzin, underscored the necessity for an inclusive government in Afghanistan to gain recognition, Daryo’s correspondent in Afghanistan reported. Galuzin emphasized that the participation of all nationalities, religions, and political factions is vital for acknowledging the legitimacy of the Afghan government.
Galuzin highlighted that Russian mass media has been vocal about the imperative of inclusivity in Afghanistan's governance structure. He stressed that the formation of an inclusive government, accommodating representatives from all ethnic groups, religious denominations, and political entities, is pivotal for international recognition.
“The issue of recognizing the leadership of Afghanistan is related to the formation of an inclusive government with the participation of all political forces,” Galuzin voiced.
The Deputy Minister's remarks come amidst Russia's cautious stance towards the Taliban. Despite maintaining close ties with the insurgent group and handing over the Afghan embassy in Moscow to them, Russia has refrained from officially recognizing the Taliban-led administration.
It's noteworthy that Russia also maintains connections with anti-Taliban factions. Russian officials have engaged in diplomatic discussions with these groups across various nations, including Türkiye, signaling Moscow's efforts to foster a broad-based approach to Afghan governance.
The security situation in Afghanistan's northern regions remains a concern for Russia. Moscow is particularly apprehensive about the movement of terrorist organizations in areas bordering Afghanistan and Central Asia. This concern underscores the importance Russia places on stability and security in the region, which is intrinsically linked to the composition and functioning of Afghanistan's government.
