In 1Q24, the average salary in Uzbekistan increased by 19.8% y/y to UZS 4.92 mn ($387), the State Statistics Agency reports. Among regions, Andijan recorded the highest increase at 25.2%, followed by Tashkent at 22.3%, and Ferghana at 21.5%.
The highest average salaries were reported in Tashkent at UZS 8.1 mn ($640), Navoiy at UZS 6.5 mn ($513), and Tashkent region at UZS 4.8 mn ($380). The lowest was in Surkhandarya at UZS 3.5 mn ($277), Kashkadarya and Namangan at UZS 3.6 mn ($284).
In terms of sectors, the finance and insurance sector had the highest average salary at UZS 13.2 mn ($1,043). The information and communication sector is followed with UZS 11.7 mn ($924), and transport and storage at UZS 7.4 mn ($585). The healthcare and education sectors reported the lowest average salaries at UZS 3.2 mn ($253) and UZS 3.4 mn ($267).
In 2023, Uzbekistan saw an average salary increase of 17.2%, with the national average reaching UZS 4.55 mn ($368) by year-end. The Ferghana region recorded the highest increase in salary at 19.1%. Tashkent followed this with an increase of 18.7% and the Jizzakh region at 18.1%.
The highest average salaries were in Tashkent at UZS 7.5 mn ($601). Navoi and Tashkent regions also reported high average salaries of UZS 5.9 mn ($476) and UZS 4.5 mn ($363) respectively. Conversely, the Namangan, Kashkadarya, and Surkhandarya regions had the lowest reported average salaries, ranging from UZS 3.3 mn to UZS 3.4 mn ($266-$273).
