President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan welcomed a delegation headed by Suhail Al-Mazrui, the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on April 15. This visit coincided with the ongoing second meeting of the "Central Asia-Gulf Arab States Cooperation Council" ministerial dialogue, presidential press service informed.
Minister Al-Mazrui conveyed warm regards from prominent UAE leaders, including President Sheikh Mohammed Al Nahyan and Vice President Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum.
The discussions between the delegations revolved around expanding cooperation across priority sectors. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the burgeoning economic ties, noting a consistent uptick in bilateral trade volume. Furthermore, the substantial presence of UAE investments in Uzbekistan, with over 300 UAE enterprises operating and a joint project portfolio exceeding $4 bn, underscored the depth of economic engagement.
The meeting also emphasized the exploration of potential projects in promising industries such as green energy, metallurgy, agriculture, transport, and communication. These sectors represent fertile ground for mutually beneficial collaboration and economic growth.
A significant highlight of the discussions was the Trans-Afghan railway project, with both parties deliberating on technical plans and laying the groundwork for construction. The railway project holds strategic importance in bolstering regional connectivity and facilitating trade.
