President of Uzbekistan meets Turkmenistan's foreign minister for strategic talks
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan met with Turkmenistan's Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Raşit Meredow. The meeting, held on April 15, focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, presidential press service reported.
During the discussions, Meredow conveyed warm regards from President Serdar Berdimuhamedow and Chairman of the People's Council Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow of Turkmenistan to President Mirziyoyev. They discussed enhancing friendship, good neighborliness, and cooperation across various sectors.
Additionally, they emphasized expanding interregional relations and cultural-humanitarian exchanges, particularly in light of Uzbekistan's upcoming celebrations for the 300th anniversary of the birth of poet Makhtumkuli Firoghi.
The meeting also addressed preparations for upcoming high-level meetings and the formation of a new agenda for multilateral partnership. Discussions on topical regional and international issues underscored the importance of continued dialogue and coordination between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
