Uzbekistan intends to simplify registration of medicines
The Senate of Uzbekistan approved a new law aimed at streamlining the registration process for drugs and supporting the growth of the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, on March 30. The legislation introduces several key reforms intended to expedite the introduction of new medications to the market and enhance the overall efficiency and transparency of the healthcare system.
The Ministry of Health will be granted additional authority to determine which medicines can be sold without a prescription. This measure is intended to improve patient access to essential medications while ensuring appropriate oversight and regulation. Additionally, all medications will now be included in a special state register, enhancing transparency and accountability within the healthcare system.
In an effort to reduce dependence on imports and strengthen domestic production capabilities, the law encourages the local manufacturing of critical chemicals and precursors. Companies will be able to obtain licenses to produce these essential components, thereby enhancing Uzbekistan's self-sufficiency in pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing.
