Kazakhstan's car industry witnessed a notable surge in the number of EVs, with a 9-fold increase in January compared to the same period the previous year. The number of electric passenger cars grew by 9.2 times, from 914 to 8,366 units, the Bureau of State Statistics reports.
The cities of Almaty and Astana, along with the Almaty Region, are leading in terms of the number of EVs, with 4,946, 1,044, and 379 units, respectively.

In 2022, sales of electric cars surpassed 10 mn, marking an increase of 55% compared to 2021. China accounted for half of these sales.
