The Kazakh automotive company Orbis Manufacturing is set to inaugurate a new car manufacturing facility in Almaty, with the aim of producing vehicles from the Chinese brand KAIYI. The agreement was signed by Suhrab Makhmudov, President of Orbis Kazakhstan, and Gao Lei, General Manager of Yibin Kaiyi Auto, on March 26.
Kazakh company plans to start building a car manufacturing plant in Q2 2024 within Almaty's industrial zone. The facility will be equipped to produce 80,000 cars annually and is projected to create more than 1,500 job opportunities.
As per the agreement, the Chinese automaker will supply Orbis Kazakhstan with all the necessary technical documentation about its products. Furthermore, they will send technical experts to support the manufacturing processes and oversee the application of technology at the facility.
In 2023, a subsidiary of Orbis Auto acquired exclusive rights for the sales and servicing of KAYYI cars in Kazakhstan. The company is currently enlarging its dealership network throughout the nation to facilitate the distribution of vehicles from the new factory.
Moreover, Orbis Kazakhstan established a similar agreement with Chinese brand EXEED International in May 2023, with intentions to localize their car production within Kazakhstan.
