The First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Roman Sklyar, convened a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov on March 22 to tackle pivotal concerns regarding the Baikonur complex, the official information resource of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reported.
The meeting held to address crucial issues surrounding the Baikonur complex, delved into various aspects, with particular emphasis on the progress of the joint Baiterek space rocket complex project. Both parties acknowledged the satisfactory advancement of the project, highlighting its alignment with previously established agreements and contractual obligations.
Central to the discussions was the delineation of further collaborative efforts required to propel the project forward. As per the agreed-upon framework, Kazakhstan will spearhead the development of ground infrastructure and oversee the modernization endeavors concerning the Baiterek space rocket complex.
In addition to project-specific matters, the meeting provided a platform for the discussion of broader bilateral cooperation and the future trajectory of Baikonur city's development. A notable point of the conversation revolved around the streamlining of entry/exit procedures for citizens of Kazakhstan into Baikonur city, with a proposal for electronic permits garnering attention.
Following extensive deliberations, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to sustained collaboration aimed at optimizing and expanding the socio-cultural potential inherent within the Baikonur complex's infrastructure. The agreement to continue mutual engagement underscores the shared vision of leveraging Baikonur's strategic significance for the mutual benefit of Kazakhstan and Russia.

The success of annual interregional forums, such as the XIX Forum focusing on agriculture, was highlighted, showcasing a 24% increase in agricultural trade turnover to $3.6bn.
