The Islamic State (IS) has issued a chilling warning, promising severe reprisals against Pakistan in response to recent airstrikes carried out in Afghanistan, Sputnik reports.
The militants have pledged to exact heavy vengeance on Islamabad for what they perceive as the unjust killing of innocent Muslim women and children in the provinces of Khost, Paktika, and Kunar. Notably, the inclusion of Kunar marks a significant expansion of IS threats beyond previously targeted regions.
Provocation Allegations
IS views the escalation of tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan, culminating in military clashes along the border, as a deliberate provocation. The group condemns what it sees as provocative actions and vows to retaliate with force against perceived aggressors.
In response to the airstrikes, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid informed Ariana News that the movement's border forces launched attacks on nine Pakistani military positions located along the border in the provinces of Paktia, Paktika, and Khost. The retaliatory actions underscore the volatility of the situation and the potential for further escalation between the two factions.
Earlier today, Jan Achakzai, the Minister of Intelligence of Balochistan, has asserted that operations targeting the bases of the "Pakistani Taliban" in Afghanistan will persist.
