Uzbek women have emerged as the predominant group among foreign brides in Turkey, as per to data reported by Turkish National Bureau of Statistics on February 22. By the conclusion of 2023, Uzbek women constituted 12% of all foreign brides in Turkey, solidifying their position at the top of the rankings.
Following closely behind Uzbek brides were Syrian brides, comprising 11% of the total, and Azerbaijani brides, making up 9%. Russian brides rounded out the top five, accounting for 7.5% of foreign brides in Turkey. While, Kyrgyz brides are at 3.7%.
When examining the citizenship of foreign grooms, German grooms ranked highest, constituting 21.9% of all foreign grooms. Following closely behind were Syrian grooms, comprising 19.2% of the total, while Austrian grooms accounted for 5.1%. Afghanistan stands at 4th place with 4%.
The data also revealed that the average age of foreign brides in 2023 was 28.5 years, indicating a relatively youthful demographic among these brides. Additionally, the months of July, August, and September stood out as the peak period for marriages involving foreign brides, suggesting a seasonal trend in wedding ceremonies.
Geographically, the cities of Istanbul, Antalya, and Izmir emerged as the hotspots for weddings with foreign brides, with these locations witnessing the highest number of such ceremonies.
