President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, delved into a presentation outlining proposals aimed at bolstering infrastructure development and augmenting the export of IT services in Uzbekistan, on February 22, presidential press service reported.
To achieve these targets, the proposed "Zero Risk" program seeks to entice IT-exporting organizations to regional hubs. Participants in this program will enjoy complimentary use of vacant state-owned buildings for up to one year, endorsed by IT park recommendations. Subsequently, a direct contract will be established, with technology and equipment provided free of charge for the initial year by the IT park.
Incentives under the program encompass reimbursing up to 50% of employee recruitment and training expenses incurred by participating enterprises. Concurrently, the "Local to Global" initiative endeavors to catapult local IT firms onto the international stage by subsidizing up to 50% of their costs for global market entry, participation in international exhibitions, and engagement of foreign experts.
President Mirziyoyev endorsed the proposed measures and issued additional directives to advance the implementation of these initiatives.
Earlier Daryo reported that in 2023, 41 companies based in IT Parks in Uzbekistan exported IT services and digital products to the United Arab Emirates, generating revenue totaling $19.7 mn. Emphasizing Uzbekistan's strong human resource base, it was noted that almost 60% of the country's population of 36 mn are under the age of 30, possessing excellent literacy rates and proficiency in multiple foreign languages. With more than 30,000 graduates in IT fields annually from 65 universities, Uzbekistan offers a significant talent pool for the global IT sector.
