In Uzbekistan, a legal examination is underway concerning the syrup “Dok-1 Max”, which has been linked to the tragic demise of 68 children and the disability of 16 others. The court is currently hearing arguments about the syrup’s potential role in these incidents. Davron Akhmadov, a defence attorney in the case, contends that the syrup is not the culprit behind the reported fatalities and disabilities.
"The syrup has nothing to do with the children's deaths, and the investigation could not prove it either,"
- Davron Akhmadov reported.
Akhmadov states that a lethal dose of “Dok-1 Max” or “Ambronol” syrups would require the consumption of 100-200 ml of pure ethylene glycol. He maintains that the children did not consume such an amount. The syrup contains ethylene glycol as an auxiliary substance, but the quantity is small.
Akhmadov proposes that the children’s deaths were caused by a new strain of COVID-19, not the syrup. This strain, which emerged in 2022, causes acute kidney failure. He notes that similar cases of kidney failure have been observed in Kazakhstan.
Court experts from various regions have concluded that the children with acute kidney failure were infected with COVID-19. This supports Akhmadov’s argument that the syrup was not the cause of the children’s deaths or disabilities.
