The World Bank (WB) has announced a new intake for its program aimed at young economists. The program, open to nationals of all World Bank Group countries who are under 35 years of age as of June 30, 2024, offers participants an opportunity to spend eight months in Washington, earning a stipend of $46,500 for their contributions. While the program is open to all, preference is given to nationals from developing economies. This includes countries like Uzbekistan and other Central Asian nations, reflecting the World Bank’s commitment to fostering growth and development in these regions.
The initiative provides a platform for young researchers in the field of development economics to collaborate with WB specialists. Participants will have the chance to network with leading experts, hone their econometric skills, and gain insights into current research standards.
The work under the Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Programme (RSMFP) is remunerated. For the 2023-24 period, the post-tax payment for one participant will be $46,500 for the eight-month duration of the program.
Eligible applicants must hold a master’s degree or be enrolled in a doctoral program in economics or a related field and must be proficient in English. Participants will reside in Washington DC for the duration of the program, with the WB providing support in obtaining a US visa.
Applications can be submitted on the WB website until February 28, 2024. For detailed information, prospective applicants can reach out to rsm_fellowships@worldbank.org.
