The Eurasian National University (ENU) is pioneering a transformative shift in undergraduate education by incorporating cutting-edge innovations into its curriculum, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan reported. Starting from the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year, first-year students at ENU will delve into the realm of artificial intelligence (AI) and engage in scientific research.
ENU is rolling out a Minor program across all pedagogical areas. Under this initiative, students will explore three additional disciplines focusing on inclusive education, including "Universal Design of Learning in an Inclusive Classroom," "Psychological and Pedagogical Support for Families of Children with Special Educational Needs," and "Tutor Support for Persons with Special Educational Needs." The university has also developed methodological recommendations for teachers to effectively cater to students with diverse learning needs.
To cultivate a culture of scientific inquiry and attract young talents to the field of research, ENU is introducing two new modules into undergraduate programs. The first module provides students with the opportunity to engage in research endeavors right from their freshman year, while the second module is dedicated to the study of artificial intelligence, enabling students to grasp the intricacies of this rapidly evolving field and master advanced digital technologies.
Baizhuman Kashkhynbay, Director of the Department of Academic Affairs at ENU, emphasized the university's commitment to staying abreast of evolving trends in the labor market and technology landscape. Kashkhynbay highlighted ENU's collaboration with employers, foreign universities, and major corporations in developing innovative educational programs tailored to meet the demands of the contemporary workforce.
With approximately 40 innovative programs in place, including 18 in pedagogical, engineering, and technical domains, ENU is poised to equip its students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Notably, ENU offers instruction in three languages and provides 45 educational programs in English. Additionally, the university offers a streamlined three-year program to train mathematics teachers and recently inaugurated a doctoral program in "Space Engineering and Technology."
ENU's steadfast commitment to excellence in pedagogical, engineering, and technical education is underscored by its robust academic offerings. With over 12,000 students enrolled across three levels of education, ENU offers a diverse array of 100 educational programs in pedagogical, engineering, and technical disciplines, positioning itself as a trailblazer in shaping the future of education in the Eurasian region.
