In line with the privatization programs outlined, the State Asset Management Agency (UzSAMA) announced on January 16 the initiation of the public sale process for the complete state share (100%) in "Pakhtakor Football Club". However, in response to feedback from the public, the authorities have decided to temporarily halt the privatization process for the renowned football club.
"Pakhtakor," a renowned professional football club in Uzbekistan with a history dating back to 1956, possesses a substantial land area of 24.1 hectares, featuring 83,332.73 square meters of built-up space and 24,262.57 square meters of useful area. Presently, this asset falls under the purview of the state unitary enterprise "Municipal Asset Management Center."
The decision to privatize Pakhtakor is part of a broader governmental directive initiated in March 2023. This privatization strategy extends beyond Pakhtakor, encompassing other football clubs such as "Bukhara," "Nasaf," "Mash'al," "Lokomotiv," "Almalik," "Metallurg," "Bunyodkor," "Shortan," "Navbahor Falcons," and "Dinamo Plus."
The drive for privatization is a response to recommendations from the Asian Football Confederation.
