The state-owned enterprise UzTemiryo'lKargo (UTY Kargo) has entered into an agreement to expand cooperation with Chinese partners, as disclosed by the enterprise's press service.
A delegation from a subsidiary of Uzbekistan Railways, along with representatives from the Ministry of Transport, embarked on a productive working visit to Beijing the previous week. During their stay, on January 14, the delegation engaged in discussions with Meng Liang, the chairman of the Chinese company Jiayou International.
The focal point of the discussions centered around augmenting multimodal transport along the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan route. Additionally, the parties delved into the prospects of incorporating digital solutions for warehouse and logistics center management.
Concluding the fruitful meeting, UTY Kargo and Jiayou International formalized their commitment to collaboration by signing a memorandum of cooperation.
In recent years, China has emerged as Uzbekistan's primary trading partner, prompting a continual exploration of novel transport routes and corridors to facilitate increased goods supply between the two nations.
An illustrative example of such endeavors is the recent initiation of road transportation of goods by the Zhengzhou Hongyi Transportation company, traversing through Kyrgyzstan to reach Uzbekistan. Remarkably, the trial truck covered the 6,500 km route in seven days, a notable improvement with a threefold reduction in time compared to the conventional routes in use.
Further intensifying cross-border connectivity, work on the railway project connecting the three countries gained momentum in 2022. Kyrgyz officials indicate that construction of the railway line could commence before the end of the current year.
