A high-level delegation from the Republic of Kazakhstan, led by Vice Minister of Agriculture Tamabek Abulkhair, held talks with counterparts in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) on January 15, the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan reported. The discussions encompassed various aspects of agricultural collaboration and marked a step towards strengthening ties between the two nations.
During the negotiations with Mardan Mukiyit, the Deputy Chairman of the People's Government of XUAR, both parties reached an agreement to enhance cooperation in combating agricultural challenges. This includes the joint utilization of modern technologies to address issues related to locusts, pests, plant diseases, and weeds. A notable aspect of the discussions involved the incorporation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for efficient agricultural practices.
One of the key points on the agenda was the expansion of Kazakh agricultural exports to China. The delegation explored strategies to broaden the range of products and increase export volumes, fostering economic collaboration between the two nations. Additionally, there were talks on attracting investments from Chinese companies to contribute to the development of Kazakhstan's agricultural sector.
The negotiations culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in agrarian-technical and trade-economic cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan and the People's Government of XUAR. An additional agreement was inked to strengthen cooperation in the standardization and metrology of UAVs for agricultural applications.
As part of their proposal, the Kazakh delegation suggested the establishment of a joint working group to develop a comprehensive roadmap for cooperation, focusing on increasing mutual trade and economic collaboration in the field of agriculture.
