Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan to Belarus, Bakhtovar Safarzoda, on January 15, as announced by the president's press service.

During the meeting, President Lukashenko emphasized the need to intensify relations between the two nations and expressed his eagerness to engage in discussions with President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan. Lukashenko commended Ambassador Safarzoda as an active and promising diplomat, anticipating his significant contribution to the development of bilateral relations.
The Belarusian President underscored the importance of the economy and trade as foundational elements of interstate relations. Lukashenko acknowledged a slight decline in trade turnover over the past year and emphasized the need to restore and enhance economic cooperation between the two countries. As an experienced economist, Lukashenko urged a comprehensive effort to revitalize bilateral trade, citing the untapped potential for deeper economic engagement.
"We must decide what goods to sell and exchange. You are well aware of our capabilities. We have everything that Tajikistan needs in manufacturing, agriculture, freight vehicles, and especially heavy trucks. Your mining industry is increasingly vibrant, and we can be of great support to you here," President Lukashenko stated.
Belarus expressed readiness to explore various avenues for collaboration, not limiting the scope to economic ties but extending it to the military industry. Lukashenko assured Ambassador Safarzoda that Belarus stands ready to contribute to Tajikistan's security and is open to participating in joint projects.
