The President of Uzbekistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev, led an extensive meeting of the Security Council on January 12, the president's press service reported. The gathering was dedicated to assessing the results of the Armed Forces' activities and military-administrative sectors in 2023, outlining tasks for the immediate future.
The meeting brought together members of the Security Council, heads of ministries and agencies associated with the Armed Forces, district commanders, leaders of military-administrative sectors, the Chairman of the Dzhokorgi Council of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, governors of regions, and the city of Tashkent. Representatives of public organizations also participated in the discussions.
President Mirziyoyev commenced the meeting by scrutinizing the achievements of 2023, focusing on enhancing the nation's defense capabilities and advancing the Armed Forces. Reports from official leaders and critical assessments of the activities of ministries, departments, and local state authorities were presented.
The discussions revolved around improving the education system for military personnel and instilling patriotism in the youth, developing the national army, strengthening defense capabilities, and enhancing the efficiency of military-administrative sectors and the defense industry.
In the face of current global complexities, with intensified processes of globalization and a struggle for the hearts and minds of the younger generation, President Mirziyoyev emphasized the increasing role of education in fostering a military-patriotic spirit.
"Today, it is necessary for each of us to be defenders of the Motherland and to bring up our youth in this spirit," the president remarked.
In response to the challenges, specific instructions were issued to relevant officials regarding the revision of the system of educating young people in the military-patriotic spirit. Special attention was given to the importance of involving the younger generation in the country's reform process and providing opportunities for them to realize their intellectual and creative potential.
Efforts are underway to educate young people in the military-patriotic spirit through modern infrastructure in the Armed Forces and monocenters. President Mirziyoyev emphasized the need to expand these initiatives and support young individuals through subsidies to train them in modern professions and facilitate their entry into the workforce.
To strengthen the civic position of young people, the president set the task of reinforcing military-patriotic efforts in the media space.
The meeting also addressed issues related to strengthening the country's defense power, enhancing military readiness, and advancing military science. The president issued orders to improve combat training using innovative and scientific approaches and to implement modern military and scientific developments in information exchange and decision-making.
Ensuring information security and cyber security was highlighted as a crucial task for national security. The digitization of the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies, along with the integration of information resources into a secure information space, was emphasized.
The president outlined urgent tasks related to the development of the defense industry complex, improvement of the state border protection system, public safety provision, forecasting and monitoring of emergency situations, and the enhancement of efforts in preventing accidents and man-made disasters.
President Mirziyoyev concluded the meeting by extending sincere congratulations to all military personnel and the Uzbek people on the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Day of the Defenders of the Fatherland. He expressed his best wishes for the continued success and security of the nation.
