Uzbekistan has officially ratified an agreement with Italy concerning the transfer of convicted individuals, the Ministry of Justice reports. The endorsement of this agreement comes following the approval of international treaties by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The signed documents include key agreements:
- An agreement fostering mutual legal assistance in criminal matters between Uzbekistan and Italy.
- An agreement facilitating the transfer of convicted persons between Uzbekistan and Italy.
- An extradition agreement solidifying the legal framework for the extradition process between Uzbekistan and Italy.
Earlier in October, Daryo reported that as per the statement from the lower house of parliament's press service, lawmakers of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis have approved bills for the ratification of several international agreements with Iran and Italy which are similar to the ones above.
The agreements included:
1. A pact between Uzbekistan and Italy on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.
2. An agreement between Uzbekistan and Italy on the transfer of sentenced persons.
3. An accord between Uzbekistan and Italy on extradition.
4. An agreement between Uzbekistan and Iran on the transfer of sentenced persons.
5. An agreement between Uzbekistan and Vietnam on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.
