As part of the 2023 Investment Program, Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine (NMMC) marked significant milestones with the completion of construction and installation work on 11 projects. These developments signal a robust expansion and modernization strategy for one of Uzbekistan's key mining and metallurgical facilities, press service of NMMC reported.
Key Projects and Initiatives:
Gold Extraction Complex at Pistali (GMZ-6): The successful realization of the project marked the construction of a comprehensive facility for extracting and processing gold ores at the Pistali (GMZ-6).
Power Supply Project for Gold Extraction Complex: A parallel project ensured the power supply of industrial facilities associated with the gold extraction complex at the Pistali deposit, enhancing the sustainability of operations.
Network Facilities Construction and Reconstruction: Infrastructure development included a project focusing on the construction and reconstruction of network facilities for the external power supply of the Pistali field and the Nurata region.
Mining Quarry Construction at Balpantau and Tamdybulak Fields: A new mining quarry, founded on the Balpantau and Tamdybulak fields, was established as part of the broader strategy to expand the plant's mining capabilities.
Expansion of Production and Processing Capacities at Turbay Field: A pivotal project aimed at expanding production and processing capacities to support the development of the Turbay field.
Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 6: The largest investment project witnessed the launch of Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 6, situated at the Pistali deposit in the Nurata region. This plant boasts the capability to process an impressive 4 million tons of gold ore annually, contributing significantly to increased gold production.
Enhancements at Navoi Machine-Building Plant: As part of efforts to augment production capacity, the Navoi Machine-Building Plant witnessed the construction of a new Mechanical Assembly Shop and the integration of modern, high-performance machines. Additionally, a state-of-the-art metal melting furnace with a capacity of 25 tons was inaugurated in the Foundry Shop.
Situational Production Control Center and Crushing Complex: Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 2 saw the launch of a unified situational production control center, enhancing operational efficiency. Simultaneously, a new crushing and screening complex became operational at the Muruntau limestone deposit.
Railway Connectivity Expansion: A historic milestone was achieved with the construction of 82.6 km of new railway lines, connecting the Turbay, Balpantau, and Tamdybulak fields with hydrometallurgical plants. This development is poised to streamline transportation and logistics, further facilitating production processes.

Earlier Daryo reported NMMC a prominent entity in Uzbekistan's mining and metallurgical sector, has exhibited strong performance in the initial three quarters of 2023. Demonstrating substantial growth and significant economic contributions, NMMC generated products worth over UZS 48.8 trillion (equivalent to more than $4 bn) during this timeframe. This impressive result reflects a noteworthy increase of 14.3% compared to the corresponding period in the preceding year (9M22).
