New chapter in cultural exchange
In a significant move towards cultural and educational exchange, the Center for Uzbek Language and Culture has been inaugurated at Zhumabek Tashenov University in Chimkent. This initiative is a testament to the strengthening relations between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, particularly in the realms of education and culture.
Collaborative endeavour
The establishment of this centre is the result of a collaborative effort between Zhumabek Tashenov University and the Andijan State Pedagogical Institute (ASPI). The ASPI, which has a student population of over 6,000, has been instrumental in fostering partnerships and exchanges with Chimkent University, based on a memorandum of cooperation.
Zhumabek Tashenov University holds the unique distinction of being the only university in Kazakhstan that offers training to students in bachelor’s and master’s programs in the field of "Teachers of Uzbek language and literature. This is particularly significant given that over 1 mn Uzbek natives are living in Kazakhstan.
Celebrating milestone
The opening of the centre coincided with the 25th anniversary of Zhumabek Tashenov University, making it a symbolic gift from the Uzbek partners. The centre aims to promote the national culture, literature, and traditions of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan.
Key contributors
The successful inauguration of the center was made possible by the contributions of several key individuals Bakhtiyor Rasulov, the Rector of ASPI, and the Ambassador of the Assembly of the Kazakh People in Uzbekistan Hulkar Khamroeva, the Ambassador of the Assembly of the Kazakh People in Uzbekistan, played pivotal roles in the establishment of the center. The Dustlik community of the Uzbek ethnocultural community in Kazakhstan also provided significant assistance in enriching the centre with books.
It is expected to raise the level of cultural and educational exchange between the two countries to new heights. With over 22 mn speakers of Uzbek in Uzbekistan and a significant Uzbek population in Kazakhstan, the centre is poised to play a crucial role in promoting the Uzbek language, literature, and culture in Kazakhstan.
