The Tourism Development Department of Tashkent City has suspended the licenses of six companies involved in organizing the Umrah pilgrimage, as Kursiv reports. The announcement was made via the Tourism Committee's Telegram channel.
The companies affected by this decision are Orzu Travel, Lastochka - Planeta, Premier Wanderlust, Bobissalam-Travel, Muslim-Tour MT, and Delta Smart Project. These firms have had their outbound tourism licenses suspended for 10 days due to non-compliance with the regulations set by the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
As per the government's decision effective from November 1, 2023, only local tour operators with a special license are authorized to organize such trips. The committee had previously issued instructions to 23 firms that were organizing the Umrah without a license, directing them to rectify the identified shortcomings. However, the aforementioned six companies failed to meet the stipulated deadline, leading to the suspension of their licenses.
The Tourism Committee has urged citizens to exercise caution and refrain from availing the services of unlicensed companies to avoid potential inconveniences. This move underscores the government's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens undertaking the Umrah pilgrimage.
