The Russian delegation expressed concerns that certain countries, presumably Western nations, are attempting to interfere in the regional cooperation between countries and the Taliban. These countries are allegedly introducing new mechanisms that complicate the process, despite the availability of bilateral meetings to resolve disagreements with Kabul.
The Russian side reiterated calls for Washington to unfreeze Afghanistan’s gold and foreign currency reserves. These reserves, which are currently inaccessible to the Taliban, could significantly contribute to Afghanistan’s economic development.
The majority of these reserves are held within the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and their release could alleviate the economic crisis in Afghanistan.
