In a recent video conference call focused on the continued growth of production and service development, the President highlighted the need for an increased emphasis on expanding service and tourism opportunities, as per a statement from the President's press secretary.
The President underscored the importance of services in the economy, stating that the goal is to raise the share of services to 43.5% by the end of the year. Despite a positive trajectory, the President noted that the 11M 2023 data indicated a 13.6% increase in services, reaching UZS 421 trillion ($33.9bn) —falling slightly short of the anticipated target.
Certain regions, including Gulistan, Nurafshan, Yangiyer, Yangiyol, Termiz, Khanabad, Nukus, Ohangaron, and Chirchik, experienced growth below 10%. In Peshku, Uchkoprik, Asaka, and Piskent districts, the growth was even less, not exceeding 4%.
Upon sectoral analysis, it was revealed that finance, transport, trade, tourism, education, medicine, and IT collectively contribute to 85% of the total volume of services. The President emphasized the need for a strategic approach to enhance growth in these sectors to achieve the broader economic objectives.
