In a recent meeting chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Tamara Duisenova, discussions centered around the critical importance of prioritizing children's safety and health in the construction of educational facilities across the country, Official Information Source of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reported.
Representatives from various ministries, including education, industry and construction, and national economy, as well as regional officials, gathered to address the ongoing challenges and progress in developing the educational infrastructure.
The Vice Minister of Education, Edil Ospan, provided an update on the current situation. As of December 16, plans are underway to open 13 schools in the country, bringing the total number of operational secondary education facilities to 109 for the year. These schools are designed to accommodate 95,300 students places, and an additional 45 schools are expected to open by year-end, addressing 12 emergency situations and 29 three-shift objects.
It was highlighted that financing for school construction comes from diverse sources, with private investments contributing to 43 facilities this year. Furthermore, the Education Infrastructure Development Support Fund has allocated funds for 18 schools.
Deputy Prime Minister Tamara Duisenova underscored the need for quality construction, emphasizing that meeting deadlines should not compromise the safety and health of children. She urged the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Construction, to maintain constant oversight of the construction process.
"In pursuit of the deadline, one must not forget about the quality of construction. This aspect is critical. Children's safety and health should be a priority. The Ministry of Education, together with the Ministry of Industry and Construction, needs to keep this process in constant control,” Duisenova emphasized.
Recognizing the importance of comprehensive child development, the state has taken measures to enhance the infrastructure of additional education. An order from the president mandates the construction of 50 children's health and 100 major preparation centers. Edil Ospan, in collaboration with regional authorities, has devised a plan for the construction of such centers and camps, with several projects already commissioned this year.
Duisenova also stressed the necessity of focusing on the content and operations of existing health camps. She urged authorities to provide a comprehensive program for the development and well-being of children during their stay in these camps. The positive experiences from existing children's centers of additional education should be applied universally to ensure the holistic development of children across the country, as per the Deputy Prime Minister.
