The Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, convened a significant meeting with a high-level delegation led by Jason Zullo, the Director of Corporate Banking at Citibank's office in Istanbul, Government Portal of Uzbekistan reported.
The meeting, held on December 6, focused on discussing the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Uzbekistan and Citibank during a crucial high-level visit to the USA in September of this year.
Citibank, recognized as the largest international bank globally and founded in 1812, operates as a division of Citigroup, a major international player in the financial services sector. Since March 2007, Citibank has held the distinction of being the largest U.S. bank among holdings, operating in over 100 countries worldwide.
The meeting served as a platform for both parties to delve into the potential avenues for collaboration, particularly in the context of the burgeoning Uzbekistani banking sector. Bank experts from Citibank expressed their confidence in the potential of Uzbekistan's banking industry and presented constructive suggestions for venturing into international stock markets.
The Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier in the year signifies a commitment to fostering economic ties between Uzbekistan and Citibank, with a particular emphasis on the financial sector. Discussions during the meeting centered on the strategic steps required to actualize the outlined goals and objectives of the memorandum.
