Uzbekistan warmly welcomed a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Justice of the Kingdom of Sweden on November 29, marking a significant step towards strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of justice and law.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Justice in Tashkent, saw the Minister of Justice of Uzbekistan, Akbar Tashkulov, engage in fruitful discussions with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice of Sweden, Anders Hall. The talks were also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Uzbekistan, Tomas Danestad.
During the event, Minister Tashkulov provided the Swedish delegation with insights into the main objectives of the Uzbek Ministry of Justice. He emphasized the ministry's role in formulating a unified state policy on legislation, safeguarding citizens' legal interests, coordinating legal services across government bodies, and providing legal assistance to the public and legal professionals.
In response, State Secretary Anders Hall commended the achievements of the Uzbek Ministry of Justice in the legal sphere. Hall provided a brief overview of the Ministry of Justice of Sweden and expressed the Kingdom's keen interest in fostering collaboration with Uzbekistan on matters pertaining to justice, law, security, and migration.
Minister Tashkulov proposed the idea of signing a memorandum of understanding between the two ministries and exploring the development of a bilateral agreement on mutual legal assistance. The proactive approach from both parties indicates a commitment to deepening legal ties and fostering mutual cooperation.
Following the formal discussions, the delegation enjoyed a guided tour of the Ministry of Justice building, providing them with a firsthand look at the activities and functions of the ministry.
