The Dutch retail giant, Spar, is set to make its debut in the Uzbek market next year, according to a report by Newshub. The news was confirmed by Nargisa Baymirzayeva, the Director of Corporate Development of the Korzinka supermarket chain.
In Uzbekistan, the European company will be represented by the ‘Korzinka’ supermarket chain. Nargisa Baymirzayeva revealed that discussions are currently underway regarding the best approach to introduce the Dutch retailer to the Uzbek market.
She clarified that the new stores will not be Spar hypermarkets, but will instead follow a smaller format.
Founded in 1932 in the Netherlands, Spar has grown into a global retail powerhouse. As of the end of 2022, the network’s retail sales reached a staggering €43.5 bn, with an average annual growth rate of 5.2% from 2018 to 2022.
The Spar brand boasts over 13,000 stores worldwide. In the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Spar supermarkets are already operational in Azerbaijan and Belarus. The expansion into Uzbekistan marks another significant milestone in Spar’s ongoing growth.
