Representatives of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the People's Republic of China convened at the headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission for a subcommittee meeting, focusing on customs cooperation and trade facilitation.
The discussions delved into various aspects, including the development of digital (smart) customs, the introduction of promising customs technologies, the "single window" mechanism, enhancement of the "authorized economic operator" institution, electronic customs transit, and the implementation of the "Eurasian Agroexpress" project.
Sergei Vladimirov, the Director of the Department of Customs Legislation and Enforcement Practice of the EEC, emphasized the significance of fostering dialogue with Chinese partners as a crucial aspect of the Main Directions of the Union's International Activities.
"The exchange of experience with China in various issues of customs administration, including the use of promising customs technologies, is considered a significant aspect of successful customs cooperation," Vladimirov noted.
The legal foundation for this cooperation is the Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation signed on May 17, 2018. Both parties expressed confidence that the subcommittee would serve as an effective platform for addressing current challenges in customs cooperation between the EAEU and China.
