The economic situation in the Republic of Uzbekistan has shown promising signs of growth and development in the period from January to October 2023.
Growth Forecast: A 5.0% growth in GDP indicates that the total value of all goods and services produced in Uzbekistan is expected to increase by 5.0% in 2023. This is a positive sign as it suggests economic expansion. However, the anticipated slowdown in growth could be due to various factors such as a decrease in consumer spending or a slowdown in the services sector.
Inflation Rates: Inflation is the rate at which the general level of prices for goods and services is rising. An inflation rate of 11.0% in 2023 means that, on average, the price of goods and services in Uzbekistan is expected to increase by 11.0% compared to the previous year. The expected decrease to 10.0% in 2024 suggests that the rate of price increase is slowing down.
Per Capita GDP Growth: Per capita GDP measures a country's average economic output per person. A 3.0% growth in per capita GDP in 2023 and 2024 suggests that Uzbekistan's average economic output per person is expected to increase by 3.0% each year.
Investments in Manufacturing: The 3.8 trillionn spent in the manufacturing industry in Tashkent indicates a significant investment in this sector. This could lead to increased production, job creation, and economic growth in the city.
Construction Work: The UZS 2,118.4 bn of construction work carried out by non-state-owned organizations in the Syrdarya region suggests a robust construction sector. This could be indicative of infrastructure development and urbanization in the region.
Number of Enterprises and Organizations: The number of registered enterprises and organizations has increased in 2023. As of November 1, there were 682,126 registered entities, compared to 619,648 in 2022. However, the number of operating entities decreased from 581,046 in 2022 to 490,354 in 2023.
Number of Small Business Entities: The number of registered small business entities has also shown an increase. As of November 1, 2023, there were 608,930 registered small businesses, compared to 548,415 in 2022. However, the number of operating small businesses decreased from 512,637 in 2022 to 422,586 in 2023.
These figures paint a picture of a growing economy with significant investments in key sectors. However, the anticipated slowdown in growth and the high inflation rates highlight the challenges that need to be addressed for sustained economic development.
