Uzbek delegation, led by Deputy General Director of the Cinematography Agency, Shukhrat Rizayev, has arrived in Kyrgyzstan to participate in the inaugural “Bishkek International Film Festival”. The festival, held at the Kyrgyz National Philharmonic named after Toktogul Satylganov, is dedicated to the 95th birth anniversary of globally acclaimed writer, Chingiz Aitmatov.
The festival features two distinct categories, with 10 films vying for the top spot in the international film competition, and 8 films in the national competition. The Uzbek delegation is also represented by the creators of the film “Yakshanba”.
The jury panel comprises renowned figures in global cinema, including Semih Kaplanoglu, Philip Che, Elena Dulgeru, Park Song Yong, and Gulsar Azhybekova. The festival’s guest of honour is actress Turkan Shoray, known for her role in the film “Red Headskin”, based on a novel by Chingiz Aitmatov.
The Bishkek International Film Festival, taking place from November 17-21, is a significant event in the cultural calendar. The festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy, introduces a “guest country” concept, further fostering international collaboration. This year, the festival also features the “Days of Turkish Cinema”, providing a platform for startups and forums. As the festival unfolds, attendees can look forward to a rich tapestry of cinematic experiences, reflecting the diverse and dynamic nature of the global film industry.
