As of the end of September, Kyrgyzstan’s state debt, encompassing both external and internal liabilities, has approached a staggering $5.987 bn (531,108.91 bn soms), according to data provided by the Ministry of Finance.
The external debt constitutes $4.486 bn (398,004.07 bn soms), while the internal debt is $1.500 bn (133,103.94 bn soms). Over the month, the state debt saw an increase of $140.6 mn, with the external debt decreasing by $9.48 mn and the internal debt rising by $150.1 mn.
A significant portion of the external debt, 51.9 per cent or $2.330 billion, is attributed to multilateral loans. Bilateral concessional loans account for another $2.101 bn, 46.8 per cent of the external debt. Notably, 38.5 per cent of the country’s external debt, amounting to $1.726 bn, is owed to the Export-Import Bank of China as of the end of August.
