A Chinese company has announced plans to establish a copper processing plant in the Fergana region, as reported by the press service of the regional khokimiyat (local administration). The khokim (governor) of Fergana, Khairullo Bozorov, recently met with Chinese entrepreneurs to discuss various investment projects in the region. The groundbreaking ceremony for the copper processing plant is scheduled to take place in the coming days.
The production facility will be situated in the Bakai small industrial zone. In addition to copper processing, the company also intends to venture into the production of electric vehicles. Initially, a showroom for Chinese cars will be opened to gauge public demand. Subsequently, the plan includes the assembly of vehicles and, finally, the full localization of electric car production in the Fergana region.
Chinese businessmen have proposed an investment project to establish a flower printing enterprise, as well as to engage in weaving and dyeing fabrics made from natural and synthetic blends. In a related development, Chinese investors have recently announced their intention to construct an indoor ice complex in Andijan at a cost of $12 mn.
