Kamol Mukhtarov has commenced his role as Uzbekistan's permanent representative to UNESCO in Paris, France, Dunyo reports.
At 42 years of age, Kamol Mukhtarov holds degrees from Samarkand State University and the London Diplomatic Academy. His career within Uzbekistan's governmental departments began in 2007, initially serving in various capacities under the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He subsequently worked as a counselor at the Uzbekistan Embassy in the United States. From 2019 onwards, he has held significant positions within the administration of the President of Uzbekistan.
Kamol Mukhtarov assumes this position following the tenure of Umid Shodiyev, who led the Permanent Mission to UNESCO from 2018 to 2023 and was appointed as the Chairman of the Tourism Committee under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of Uzbekistan in July.
Previous reports highlighted Uzbekistan's readiness to host the UNESCO General Conference expressed by Saida Mirziyoyeva, as well as the acknowledgment of a prestigious international award from UNESCO to the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation in February.
