The Al-Qassam Brigades claimed to have captured dozens of Israeli soldiers and officers. Later, Musa Abu Marzouk, a member of the Hamas political bureau, stated that more than 100 Israeli citizens, including high-ranking military personnel, were taken captive and are being held in the Gaza Strip.
