Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov conducted a meeting with a government delegation led by the Prime Minister of the Chinese State Council, Li Xiang, at the "Hangzhou Huaxia" state residence, as part of his visit to China.
Initially, the delegates from Uzbekistan conveyed warm regards and best wishes from Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping. This gesture was accompanied by congratulations on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
In recent years, the bilateral trade turnover between the two nations in 2022 is estimated to reach approximately $9bn. In a concerted effort to boost trade volume, the leaders of both countries have tasked their respective governments with the goal of reaching $10bn.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that there exist ample opportunities not only to achieve this target but also to elevate mutual trade to the range of $12-13bn. This could be facilitated by augmenting exports of textiles, copper, mineral fertilizers, agricultural products, and various other commodities to China.
Simultaneously, the significance of executing promising projects in areas such as "green" energy, the automotive industry, electrical engineering, non-ferrous and rare metal processing, and "smart" agriculture, as well as agro and water-saving technologies, was underscored. In this context, a proposal was made to establish an Uzbekistan-China industrial park equipped with state-of-the-art technologies.
Additionally, as part of the Hangzhou visit, meetings were conducted with top management representatives of prominent Chinese corporations such as Huawei, Energy China International, and Silk Road Fund, aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation. The working visit of the Uzbek government delegation to China remains ongoing.
