Militants from the HAMAS group launched a fresh missile strike on Israeli territory on the evening of October 7.
Monitoring groups report that air raid sirens have been sounded in areas bordering the Gaza Strip, in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, as well as in the city of Hadera, north of the country.
According to the Magen David Adom ambulance service, at least nine people have been injured in the rocket attacks on central Israeli areas.
On the morning of October 7, the HAMAS movement initiated a military operation against Israel by launching approximately three thousand rockets, as estimated by Israeli military officials. Militants from the group infiltrated border regions, engaging in clashes with Israeli forces. In response, the Israeli military carried out several strikes on Gaza, prompting HAMAS to threaten retaliation against Tel Aviv.
According to Israeli authorities, the attacks by militants have resulted in the deaths of at least 150 people, with over 1,100 individuals injured. According to the Palestinian Authority, approximately 200 people have been killed and more than 1,600 injured due to Israeli army strikes.
Global Response to Escalating Conflict in Israel and Gaza
The European Union has strongly condemned the attack by Palestinian group HAMAS on Israel and called for an immediate cessation of violence.
"This is terrorism in its most abhorrent form," wrote Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the European Commission, on social media. "Israel has the right to defend itself against such heinous attacks."
Charles Michel, the head of the European Council, expressed a similar sentiment, saying, "My thoughts are with the victims. The EU stands in solidarity with the Israelis during this dreadful moment."
"I strongly condemn the terrorist attacks currently being perpetrated against Israel. I am fully in solidarity with the victims, their families, and loved ones," said French President Emmanuel Macron.
Ukraine also expressed support for Israel, condemning the attacks on civilians in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv and acknowledging Israel's right to protect its citizens.
According to Euronews, Iran congratulated Palestine on the commencement of the attack on Israel, and Qatar claimed that only Jerusalem was to blame for the violence. Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia called for an end to the bloodshed.
President Biden and Prime Minister Netanyahu held a phone conversation, during which President Biden expressed complete support for Israel. Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed his gratitude to President Biden for the support and stressed the need for "prolonged and robust campaign that will lead Israel to victory," according to RBK reports.
