On September 29, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the Economic Forum organized under the auspices of the Eastern Committee of German Economy in Berlin. This significant event was attended by leaders and officials from Central Asian countries, including President Qasim-Jomart Tokaev of Kazakhstan, President Sadir Japarov of Kyrgyz Republic, President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, and the national leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
German officials, including German Federal Minister for Special Assignments Wolfgang Schmidt and State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection Udo Philipp, were also present. The event featured participation from leaders of prominent German companies and banks, including CLAAS, Siemens Energy, Knauf, Linde, and others.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his satisfaction with the growing interest of German businesses in expanding their activities in Central Asian markets. Discussions during the forum covered various topics, including investment, innovation, technological cooperation, and prospects for cooperation in high-tech sectors, "green" energy, raw material processing, logistics, transport, and workforce training.
"Together with you, we are doing a great job of modernizing the leading sectors of our country's economy, creating effective added value chains and thousands of new jobs. We are interested in the emergence of new areas and permanent platforms for open dialogue," said the President.
President Mirziyoyev acknowledged the development of trade, economic, and investment relations between Uzbekistan and Germany, citing a doubling of joint projects and enterprises in recent years. He expressed gratitude to German businesses for their contributions to strengthening Uzbek-German relations and commended their long-term successful cooperation.
Several priority areas for expanding cooperation with German companies were identified. These included the development of cooperation and increased activities of German firms in Uzbekistan, with a focus on the production of consumer industrial products. The President proposed holding a Central Asian exhibition of high industrial technologies by leading German manufacturers in Uzbekistan to support regional projects.
"Green" energy emerged as a crucial direction for partnership, with President Mirziyoyev highlighting successful cooperation with German partners in alternative energy development. He suggested the creation of a cooperation program with German engineering and design centers and industrial holdings to implement "green" economic projects at the regional level.
The President emphasized the importance of utilizing advanced technological solutions to process essential raw materials and facilitate the export of industrial products. Food safety issues were also discussed, with President Mirziyoyev proposing the involvement of energy-efficient and digital technologies from German companies in agriculture and water management.
Transport and logistics were another key focus area, with an emphasis on establishing efficient routes connecting Central Asia with Europe. Expert support from leading German organizations and companies for transport projects was suggested.
President Mirziyoyev also highlighted the significance of training qualified specialists and proposed joint regional events in the field of food. In conclusion, he reaffirmed his readiness to fully support business initiatives and joint investment projects in Uzbekistan, emphasizing the region's vast opportunities for German businesses.
