BYD car manufacturing company announced that all BYD vehicles damaged in the September 28 blast will be sent for recycling.
The BYD cars were located in the adjacent territory of the customs warehouse at the time of the blast. Due to the powerful nature of the explosion, the blast wave and shrapnel caused superficial damage to a number of the vehicles.
In a statement sent via the company’s telegram channel, BYD representatives said the following:
We inform you that all damaged cars will be sent for recycling, which is important from a safety and environmental point of view. All obligations for the delivery of cars will be fulfilled according to the deadlines specified in the contract.
The company assured BYD buyers that their contracts would be fulfilled without any delay.
In the early morning hours of September 28, a strong explosion and fire took place in the warehouse belonging to Inter Logistics in the Builder massif area of the Sergeli district of Tashkent.
A total of 163 people were injured and 1 teenager died as a result of the incident, most were treated as outpatient procedures with cuts and scrapes from the blast, while 24 were hospitalized in a more serious condition.
The Department of Investigations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has initiated a criminal case based on criminal code 259 stating the violation of fire safety regulations.
