During a session of the Jogorku Kenesh, Edil Baisalov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet, expressed his regret and sought forgiveness from the deputies, acknowledging his willingness to accept criticism, 24.kg reports.
Baisalov stressed that he has never harbored any doubts about the authority and rights of the Jogorku Kenesh. He emphasized his longstanding commitment to democracy, transparent governance, public oversight, and the harmonious coexistence of government branches. He formally extended his apology to the deputies, having previously done so through the media, and expressed his belief in the continuation of constructive cooperation.
Speaker Nurlanbek Shakiyev clarified that Edil Baisalov was seeking forgiveness on behalf of President Sadyr Japarov during the meeting, which was attended by the head of state, the cabinet chairman, faction leaders, and vice-speakers. The president reportedly stated that Baisalov would officially apologize and commit to avoiding further disruptive mistakes. However, he was issued a final warning, with a clear message that if such issues were to recur, decisive actions would be taken.
It's worth noting that there has been a growing level of dissatisfaction among deputies with Deputy Head of the Cabinet Edil Baisalov's performance, with some suggesting the formation of a working group to assess his suitability for the role. One member of parliament, Shailoobek Atazov, has even called for Baisalov's resignation.
