London recently hosted an exhibition showcasing the art of Kyrgyzstani artists for the first time. Admi Kurman, a representative of London Kyrgyz Art, shared this news, underlining that such exhibitions in the UK offer artists a unique opportunity to become active participants in the global art scene.
The Institute, named in honor of the renowned 14th-century Turkish poet Yunus Emre, features works by both established and emerging artists who are contributing to contemporary Kyrgyz art.
Visitors to the exhibition can explore creative pieces by well-known Kyrgyzstani artists, including Aziz Sulaymanov, Sadyk Murzakhanov, Arstan Dukeev, Zalkar Toktogulov, and Eldiyar Sharshebiev. These artworks predominantly encompass contemporary Impressionism, domestic scenes, and landscape genres. The exhibition's curator, Gulzara Akmatova-Davis, highlighted its groundbreaking nature as the first such art showcase in London.
She expressed optimism that this event would mark a successful start for future art projects, as the Kyrgyz Republic boasts a wealth of artistic talent. Akmatova-Davis also stressed the significance of promoting Kyrgyzstani artists' work in England, a country with numerous art galleries eager to showcase the creations of their Kyrgyz counterparts.
Additionally, Aziza Sulaymanova's pieces are currently on display in nine different London galleries. This exhibition received backing from the Kyrgyz Republic's Embassy in the United Kingdom.
